Services/Cloud Backup Setup
Cloud Backup Setup
A stolen phone or broken laptop shouldn't mean losing years of photos, client contacts, and work content. I set up automatic backups so everything is safely stored and recoverable — without compromising your privacy.

Best for iPhone users. Automatic, seamless, reliable. Enable Advanced Data Protection for stronger encryption. From £0.99/month for 50GB.

Google Photos
15GB free, works on both Android and iPhone. Google scans your photos to improve its AI. Good for personal photos; less ideal for work photos you want kept private.

ProtonDrive
End-to-end encrypted. ProtonMail company (Switzerland). Nobody — including Proton — can access your files. 5GB free, more from £3.99/month. Best for work content you want kept private.

Separating personal and work backups
If you use the same iCloud or Google account for everything, your work photos, client contacts, and personal photos all live together. I help you set up separate accounts or folders so work and personal content stay apart — important for privacy and for keeping things organised.
I also make sure your backups are actually running (many people assume they're backing up but aren't) and test that you can successfully restore from backup — the most important part that most people skip.
Questions
Is iCloud private?
iCloud encrypts data in transit and at rest, but Apple holds the encryption keys for most data, meaning they can technically access it and respond to legal requests. With Advanced Data Protection turned on (available on recent iPhones), end-to-end encryption is available for most data. I advise on the right settings for your situation.
What if my backup gets hacked?
The risk is mainly from weak passwords or account compromise, not the backup service itself being breached. I set up strong two-factor authentication on your backup accounts and advise on using a strong unique password. With proper account security, cloud storage is very safe.
How much storage do I need?
For photos and contacts only, 50GB is usually enough (about £0.99/month on iCloud, free 15GB on Google). If you have lots of video content, you'll need more. I check what you have and recommend the right amount before you pay for anything.
Can you set it up for me?
Yes. I walk you through setting up automatic backup on your phone and laptop, check that everything is actually backing up (it's common to think you're backed up when you're not), and make sure your work and personal content are stored separately.
What about backing up my website?
Yes — if I built your website, backups are part of my maintenance service. If you have a website elsewhere, I can advise on how to set up regular backups through your hosting provider or a third-party backup service. Websites without backups can be completely lost if something goes wrong.
Never lose your photos or work data again
Message me and tell me what device you use. I'll set up the right backup solution and make sure it's actually working.
