How I Took an eBay Store from 20 to 200 Sales a Month
This is a real case study. The client came to me selling around 20 items a month on eBay, making a modest profit, but frustrated that growth had stalled. Within four months we were hitting 200+ sales per month. Here's exactly what we did.
The Starting Point
When I first audited the account, the problems were clear:
Step 1: Listing Title Overhaul
eBay's Cassini search algorithm weights titles heavily. We rewrote every listing title using a formula:
Brand + Item Type + Key Feature + Size/Colour + Condition + Fit/Style
For example: "Zara Women's Floral Wrap Midi Dress Size 12 Blue Summer Boho Style BNWT"
This alone increased impressions by over 60% within two weeks.
Step 2: Photography Standards
We set a simple rule: every item photographed on a white or neutral background, good natural light, minimum 6 photos per listing:
Sales conversion (people who viewed and bought) jumped from 2.1% to 4.7%.
Step 3: Pricing Strategy
We did a proper competitor analysis for every category. The goal wasn't to be the cheapest — it was to be priced where the data said buyers were converting. We also introduced:
Step 4: Promoted Listings
We set a 3-5% promoted listing rate on all items in competitive categories. This puts your listing higher in search results. The increased visibility more than paid for the ad cost.
Step 5: Feedback Recovery and Maintenance
We implemented a post-sale message sequence:
Feedback score went from 96% to 99.2% positive. This improved rankings on every listing.
The Result
Month 1: 20 sales → Month 4: 200+ sales. Revenue grew by over 8x (margins also improved due to better pricing strategy).
What This Means for Your Store
These strategies work regardless of what you sell. The principles are the same whether you're selling clothing, electronics, collectibles, or auto parts. If you'd like me to audit your eBay store and give you a prioritised action plan, message me on WhatsApp. The audit is free.
